Game of Thrones is one of the most watched shows on television. It has won countless Emmys and has millions of fans throughout the globe. Fans of the show have been clamoring for the new season, and they will be rewarded with its return this summer.

Game of Thrones has 106 Emmy Award Nominations, and the second most Emmy wins, 38, falling only to Saturday Night Live with 45; however Game of Thrones has only had 6 seasons. Compare that to SNL’s 42 seasons, and it’s amazing that they are that close.

People who have yet to join the Game of Thrones phenomenon are definitely missing out. The show follows an abundance of different royal families as they try to rip the throne from one another. Characters range from young girls trying to find their way to powerful kings waging war against one another.

The show is not one for the squeamish. Families are torn apart in the most brutal of ways and brothers and sisters are pitted against one another. Wars wage and lives are lost for families to claim the throne, but with a new threat rising in the north, and talk of dragons in the east, the whole battle for the throne slowly starts to take a back seat.

Season 6 of Game of Thrones pleased everyone. The last two episodes revealed a lot of secrets that fans had long been predicting. With a massive budget these episodes were able to recreate massive battle scenes as well as huge, movie-like cinematic spectacles.

Game of Thrones is undoubtedly one of the most popular television shows of all time, both critically and commercially. With huge budgets and incredible actors, the show is able to craft story lines unlike anything ever seen on television. That being said, the show is not for the faint of heart or the casual watch. It takes a perceptive watcher to get the most from the show, but fans will tell you it’s more than worth it.
