With the weather finally warming up, multiple spring sports hit the fields for matches, meets, and games.  One particular spring sport this season has gone above and beyond any expectations this year. The PLHS Softball team remains undefeated this school year and is currently ranked as one of the best Softball teams in the nation.  It is evident that this team works extremely hard for success, but one major component of this year’s success stems from the 10 seniors on the team who exude passion, experience, and leadership.

All of these girls have been playing the game for over 10 years through various organizations such as PLAY, a multitude of club organizations like Wave, Force, and Irish, and of course, playing for the Lakers.

A common favorite memory of the team includes going to Florida for Spring break two years ago.  Alexandra Pinkowski, one of the team’s captains, claims, “ That week I spent with 15 of my best friends, played 24 hours of softball in 5 days, and met some pretty cool people.”  All of the girls claimed that this trip was not only a great getaway, but it also brought the team closer together.

When asked to share advice for youth playing softball, many mentioned the importance of work ethic.  In the words of another team captain, Abby Sagert, “work hard and believe in yourself.” Another piece of advice that was shared includes that players should “never take anything for granted. Stepping on the ball field is a privilege” according to senior Jasmine Ziegler.

With sections quickly approaching, these girls are hopeful for a big win.

As the school year and season comes to a close, we wish the best of luck to the team at sections and the 10 seniors in their futures!
