Bradley Cooper made his directing debut in the film “A Star is Born”, released on October 5th, 2018.

The film, that has been remade four other times, features a thirty-four song soundtrack written by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga among many other writers and composers.

Gaga was also in the film as a lead character. She has previously appeared in American Horror Story Hotel, but this is the first big movie she’s been in.

Lady Gaga plays Ally, who is a struggling artist trying to make it in the music industry. Bradley Cooper plays singer Jackson Maine, who is a successful musician stumbling through his career.

The story starts by taking place in 2018 when the pair meet in a bar and get to talking. One thing leads to another and they become a duo that people have been waiting for.

The storyline follows the two characters trying to make it in their careers and the struggles they both face. Ally and Jackson find their solitude in one another and begin to see the power that they both have by putting their creative and talented minds together.

The story shows the pair struggling with the harsh criticisms of the industry and trying to stay true to oneself during a time when the people expect musicians to look and perform a certain way.

The film shows the internal and external struggles the two face in their relationship. It also shows the work they put in to achieve success for their fans and also fulfilling their own destiny.

Without giving too much away, the film was better than expected and left audiences and myself in awe of the talent of both Gaga and Cooper.

Gaga being casted as Ally was a good choice from Cooper. She strayed away from her distinct look and showed her talent from her soul.

As a viewer you can see the emotion in each song and with each word sung, making Gaga’s character vulnerable and raw.

Cooper also showed a talent not many, including myself, knew he had. As he made his debut directing this film, I was very pleased with the casting, overall directing of the movie, the soundtrack, and his acting.

Cooper played the usual cowboy type character battling his demons, but he portrayed it in a way that made it seem relatable, and he clearly communicated with viewers.

In the opening scene, his vocals left me shocked. I never knew Cooper had a good voice and could write songs with such emotion. Most actors can’t always sing or direct a film while starring a lead character, but Cooper did this perfectly.

Not only was the film and the fourth remake put together well, but the soundtrack was a huge part of the film being so successful. The original songs and vocals will definitely give you chills.

This movie exceeded my expectations, and I give it a rating of 3.5 out of 4 stars. I would recommend this movie to anyone, even if you aren’t a fan of movies with a majority of music. This film is something that everyone needs to see!
