On Saturday, February 1, the Prior Lake High School Junior Optimists conducted their first-ever Habitat for Humanity home build in St. Paul.
Eleven students and three adults spent the day roughing out closets, building interior walls, and framing, all while working hard, learning new skills, and having fun along the way.
Habitat for Humanity builds about 3 million homes each year, providing affordable housing for families in need. In the future, the Junior Optimists are looking forward to making an impact closer to home contributing to a Habitat project already underway right here in Prior Lake.
The PLHS Junior Optimist Club is the largest JO club in the world, with 250 active members. These Lakers are making a difference in a BIG way, having completed over 40 projects in the first semester and working over 2600 service hours. Way to go Lakers!
