Congratulations to PLHS senior Layla Vennink, who is the 2025 Athena Award winner.

In Cross Country, Layla is a 6x varsity athlete and state qualifier, earning 4x All-Conference and 5x All-Section honors. She is a 2x All-State runner, finishing 6th individually at state in 2024 and earning four state medals. Layla also holds two school records in the 2-mile and 5K and was named Team MVP twice while serving as a varsity captain.

In Track & Field, Layla is a 6x varsity athlete and 4x state participant, earning 3x All-State honors and 5x state medals. She was a 2024 State Champion in the 4×400 relay and State Runner-Up in the 800m, setting a school record in the 800m. A varsity captain and multiple-time MVP, she has also qualified for New Balance Nationals in 2025.

After graduation, Layla will continue her running career at the University of St. Thomas. Join us in celebrating her amazing accomplishments!
