Prior Lake Boys Cross Country kicked off their season August 30th at the Rosemount Invitational and had a fantastic showing! The 2-mile course presented some challenges such as a wasp’s nest and multiple spots of water logged/muddy grass from the previous day’s downpours. Despite this, the Lakers persevered and many achieved personal records under the direction of their new coach, Missy Rock.
The JV race was led by senior Ledger Sears finishing 7th overall with a time of 11:11, followed closely by junior Luke Schwandt in 8th with 11:18. Senior Bryce Lindgren (15th – 11:28) and junior Joe Gannon (16th – 11:29) also finished within the top 20. The JV team ended up taking 2nd overall in the team standings.
The Frosh race is designed for 7th-9th graders where the Lakers also had a strong showing. They were led by 9th grader Tony Malinosky finishing 4th overall with a time of 11:16, and 8th grader Isaiah Rock in 10th at 11:35. Another 9th grader, Joseph Basile (20th – 12:06), made it into the top 20.
The boys’ team is still relatively young with about one-third of them being brand new to the program. They have all been training hard these first couple weeks of the season and have already been dropping times like crazy. This will be a fun team to follow as their season unfolds. The Lakers will travel to Faribault on September 6th for their next meet.
